What Is a Dream?

Dreams are fascinating. They mix thoughts, images, and sensations often occurring during sleep. Each night, when we close our eyes, our minds enter a different realm. But what are dreams? This is when our brains are most active, almost resembling the awake state, yet our bodies are paralyzed to prevent us from acting out our dreams. The average person spends about two hours dreaming each night. Yet, despite dreaming for such a long time, we remember only a fraction of our dreams.
